Personal Statement

I am a 5’6”, 132-pound point guard from California, known for my tenacious defense and selfless play. I take pride in my high basketball IQ and vision of the court. Assists are just as valuable as scoring points, and I am able to control the pace of play and create opportunities on both sides of the court. I am a point guard to my core.

Prior to my junior year, I was invited to train at Israel’s National Sports Academy. I lived full-time at the Wingate Institute alongside 11 of the country’s top U18 players. We trained six days a week, with morning strength training twice a week, and competed in Division 2 of the Israeli professional league, competing against women up to 35 years old.

The highlight of my basketball journey thus far was being invited to try out for the U18 Israeli National Team. Unfortunately, an injury early in the summer prevented me from training and traveling to the FIBA European Championships in Portugal.

Prior to this experience, I was fortunate to participate in outstanding AAU programs. I played for the CA Ballaz out of Oakland in the spring before my departure for Israel. Before that, I was part of the U16 Cal Stars EYBL team, and in 8th grade, I played up on Jason Kidd’s inaugural U16 JK Select team.

During my freshman year of high school, I led my Varsity team to the California State D4 Championships at the Golden One Center in Sacramento.

Junior Year Highlights

I spent my junior year playing and living at the Wingate Institute, Israel’s National Sports Training Academy. Alongside over 250 of Israel’s top athletes, we trained at facilities and under methodologies that I imagine are similar to a college program. Especially valuable to me was the opportunity to learn a European style of basketball that emphasizes team movement over iso plays and the constant paint penetration I had always played in the States. Achieving my goal, I earned the opportunity to try out for Israel’s U18 National Team. While an injury prevented me from traveling to the FIBA European Championship, I feel incredibly grateful to have had this unique opportunity. (video share link)

5 Minutes of Defense

On March 31, 2023, we played Hapoel Magen Mikael. After our opponent’s point guard scored 7 straight points, I was tasked with face-guarding her to disrupt her rhythm. This highlight reel showcases five minutes of continuous gameplay, during which I limited her to just 2 points while we extended our lead by 15 points.

I am proud to impact the game not just as a scorer, but as a playmaker, a defensive enforcer, and a leader on the court. (video share link)

Sophomore Year Highlights

After winning the California Division 4 State Championship the previous year, our team was elevated to Division 3. Despite the increased competition and the graduation of our former team captain, we remained strong contenders for another State Championship. We won the Division 3 North Coast Section (NCS) bracket, but narrowly lost the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoff finals by one point (41-40) to the eventual Division 3 State Champions from Colfax.

During the summer, I played for the Cal Ballaz AAU team, where I was coached by Ceonte House, Asha Thomas (now an assistant coach at Sacramento State), and Leroy Hurt (Head Coach at Oakland Tech, who led his team to back-to-back Division 3 and Division 1 California State Championships). Freshman Year Highlights

As a freshman point guard, I earned a starting position on the varsity team at The Branson School, a small private institution with just 320 students. Competing in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL), we regularly faced local public schools that were six to seven times our size. Despite this, we swept through the North Coast Section (NCS) bracket and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoffs, ultimately advancing to the State Championship Game at the Golden One Center in Sacramento. There, we defeated Imperial of Southern California to become the California Division 4 State Champions. (video share link)
